[solved] Openhab Binding cant connect to pilight server
#1
Hey all,
I'm running pilight with the Openhab addon to migrate away from my dirty bash scripts into something that smoothly works.
Right now I'm having a hard time to connect Openhab to the pilight installation.
I've configured the pilight server in openhab but it seems Openhab is not able to connect to pilight. Please find below the debug output from Openhab log:

Code:
pi@raspbian /opt/openhab/logs $ grep -i pilight openhab.log
22:55:31.738 DEBUG o.o.b.p.i.PilightActivator[:33]- pilight binding has been started.
22:55:32.060 INFO  o.o.b.p.i.PilightGenericBindingProvider[:79]- pilight:elro item 'steckd_elro_1a_new' bound to device 'markoer' in location 'esszimmer'
22:56:18.743 ERROR o.o.b.p.i.PilightConnection[:142]- No content to map to Object due to end of input
        at org.openhab.binding.pilight.internal.PilightConnection.connect(PilightConnection.java:132)
        at org.openhab.binding.pilight.internal.PilightBinding.updated(PilightBinding.java:228)
22:56:18.750 ERROR o.o.b.p.i.PilightBinding[:233]- Cannot connect to pilight server at 192.168.23.11:5000

But I can connect to pilight server via telnet. In fact the pilight server is listening.
pilight and Openhab do run on the same Raspbian host.
[/quote]
Code:
pi@raspbian /opt/openhab/logs $ telnet 192.168.23.11 5000
Trying 192.168.23.11...
Connected to 192.168.23.11.
Escape character is '^]'.
^CConnection closed by foreign host.
Any idea what could be the issue or how to analyze in more detail?
Thanks for your help.
Sebastian

What version of pilight are you using?

Hey curlymo,
thanks for your swift reply. I'm running the latest stable version from the apt repo.
Code:
root@raspbian:~# /usr/local/sbin/pilight-daemon -V
pilight-daemon version 5.0, commit v5.0

Thanks

Then i don't have a clue. Please ask the people @OpenHAB for support.

Thanks for info. I somehow thought that you may be involved into Openhab binding as well.
Well post an update here once I get a solution.
Thanks for your time anyway.

No, i'm not. I'm only amazed by the large amount of binding pilight has Smile

Hey,
just for completness sake, this was caused by a miss-configuration. I was unaware that pilight uses 2 ports for communication. Thus I pointed the openhab server to the web-ui port intstead of the correct one.
Since correcting this, pilight and openhab are running flawlessly.
Btw: here's the official pilight binding docu: https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki/pilight-Binding
