send-repeat
#1
I've searched the forum and wiki but could not find the send-repeat parameter for V7.
I've got the Eurodomest wall switches using the kaku_switch_old protocol but the wall switches don't always respons the first time.

Where can i find/put the 'repeat' setting?

I totally agree with Tommybear1979.

For me they are EasyHome Switches. In "learn" mode they work fine with
Version 5 and sendrepeats=10. Without send-repeat and
Quote:pilight-send -p raw -c "1000 500 1000 500 1000 500 1000 500 500 1000 500 1000 1000 500 500 1000 500 1000 1000 500 1000 500 500 1000 500 1000 500 1000 1000 500 1000 500 500 1000 1000 500 1000 500 500 1000 1000 500 1000 500 500 1000 500 1000 3000 7000"
they often don't switch to ON.
I'm really missing the send-repeat parameter and wish it back!

You should join the arctech_old thread again to perfectionize the protocol. That's the most durable solution.

The repeat setting parameter got removed as it interferes with a lot of protocols.

The problem with the old send-repeat parameter was that it was a global setting for all protocols. The parameter did specify how often a command (or RF pulsetrain) was sent to the device.
Most remote devices repeat a pulsetrain two to six times on a single button press. On some devices the 1st pulsetrain differed from the following pulsetrains, on some devices all pulsetrains were identical, some devices are transmitting header pulses, most devices use footer pulses, some devices send wakeup pulses before the very 1st pulsetrains, etc.

On some remotes, if you keep the button pressed, the remote sends the series of pulsetrains again, while others do not, some set a toogle bit others do not, etc., etc.

pilight was not simulating those repetitive sequences but the send-repeat parameter specified only how often a single pulsetrain was re-transmitted.

While some devices tolerated that, others did not. As a matter of fact there are some devices around that do not repeat a pulsetrain at all.

As the send-repeat parameter interfered with an increasing number of protocols, the old global send-repeat parameter was substituted with a protocol specific REPEAT parameter, currently not configurable from the outside. As suggested by curlymo, please join the appropriate thread for further discussion and optimization of the individual protocols implemented.

Also, please keep in mind, that the main necessity to repeat a pulsetrain multiple times is the fact that RF transmission is distorted, or that weak reception is the problem and that (fine)-tuning your 433 MHz antenna by adapting it to your individual hardware will lead to better reception as well.

That's quite a good explanation. Thank you very much for the technical details. Because i think i have optimized my antenna i would join the suggested thread...

@wo_rasp, what about putting this information nicely formatting in the pilight manual FAQ? You know were to find the github repository right?
