pilight DIY PCB Kits
#1

It's features are (from header to terminal):
1. Voltage regulator.
2. Hex inverter
3. ATTiny pre-filter
4. IR Sensor
5. 433.92Mhz Sender
6. Antenna
7. Terminal
8. 433.92Mhz receiver

This means it can allows mounting the standard 433.92 TX/RX + the filter. An IR receiver for using your standard remote control and a smart energy meter circuit. The voltage regulator is added to further reduce the noise.

Every component is placed between the Raspberry Pi and the PCB. This makes the whole thing fit in every case available. The PCB is as high as the RJ45 socket. The Hummingboard is also supported as long as you don't install the P1 Reader Terminal. As an alternative, solder a lower profile Terminal (when available) or solder the wires directly onto the PCB.

Almost the whole circuit is modular meaning that you don't have to use the smart energy meter, IR or 433.92Mhz circuits. You can also bypass the filter and voltage regulator if you want, but that's up to you. This means that you can solder what you need, and maybe only use the PCB to read your smart energy meter.

The large female header you see across the board allows easy swapping the sender / receiver / antenna / IR sensor. The ATTiny socket allows easy swapping the filter. This also means you can reuse all components already bought in the past.

At the moment, we are investigating how to reduce the costs of the various packages, but of course, it helps to know how many users are interested. The whole thing will be cheaper if we can produce them by 100's then by 25's.

Voltage Regulator
The standard 5v and 3.3v outputs of the Raspberry Pi are pretty "dirty". The voltage regulator cleans it up a little. As in, less spikes.

Headers
The pins on a GPIO are "male" headers. The headers on the PCB are female headers. So you push the PCB header onto the RPi to connect the whole thing. The same thing counts for the different swappable parts. We use a header so you can "plug-in" the sender, receiver, and IR sensor.

P1 meter
If you don't know what it is, just leave it off Wink

IR
IR is used for your regular remote control of your television, dvd, cd player etc. You can configure LIRC to read the command and use the LIRC protocol subsequently to use those commands in the eventing. We are working into integrating IR support directly.

Those who want to order one of these kits can pay me on my paypal account at order@pilight.org. Put your address in the description (and don't forget to mention the country you're living in and what you're ordering).

All orders will be (normally) shipped within a week and by ordering you will also support the pilight project.

The costs for those ordering in Europe will be an additional euro to cover the additional shipment costs, and wordwide will be an additional 2 euro's.

First a thanks for all the great work to Curlymo and others.

I would like to buy a PCB Full with Pre-Soldered option, but I cannot find it so I guess I misunderstood (PCB Full=PCB Only+all components from PCB Eights+PCB Quarter+PCB Half)

Please can someone explain, when I want everything Pre-Soldered, must I choose "PCB Half (Pre Soldered)" plus a "Sender & Receiver kit" to get a Pre-Soldered PCB Full?

Thanks for clear this up.

There is no more soldering work to be done after the PCB Half kit, the sender and receiver are just plugged into the soldered headers on the board. So if you order the pre-soldered PCB Half and the sender and receiver, you just have to plug them into the PCB to get the full setup.

Would there be any GPIOs left and accessible to connect IR blaster and DHT22 temperature/humidity sensor after mounting the PCB on Raspberry Pi B+?

Yes, enough. You can ask me for a stackable header. That allows you to use the unused pins.

Yes, please. I actually ordered PCB Half pre-soldered yesterday, where should I sent you my details so you know which order it is?

Are you from Czech Republic?

The only problem is that i can't ship a pre-soldered PCB with a stackable header because then it won't fit in normal packaging material.

Yes, that's me. Any chance you could find some alternative packaging for me in this case, please?

International packages are around € 15 at least so if you are willing to paid for that...
