Respond to hardware remotes?
#1
Hello all,

For a while I've been using pilight 7.0 (latest stable) on my RPI3 (with OpenHab), which works like a charm. As I have quite a few hardware remotes around the house, I'm wondering if it would be possible for pilight (and thus OpenHab) te respond to calls from these remotes?

My problem is that the state of a switch in pilight doesn't match the state of a receiver (KaKu btw) after using a hardware remote.

Thanks!

Yes, this is certainly possible if you have a 433.92 MHz receiver in your setup. You will need to use pilight-receive to find out what protocol your remote uses. If the protocol is supported, you can use eventing to create rules (actions) that pilight will execute whenever a certain signal is received from a remote.

Do you have a 433.92 MHz receiver in your setup? If you do, pilight should pick up the signals from these remotes and automatically update the state of the device... Do you see anything in pilight-receive when pressing a button on your remote?

Are you using an approved receiver ?
Have you tried to add a quad-beam antenna to your receiver (to increase reception range) ?

Hi,

I just opened a similar post (All remotes should switch via pilight) and I tried this by using "virtual Switches" for receiving commands from each remote and switching the "real switches" by a rule.

I also use a 164 mm antenna on each hardware (sender and receiver). I will have a look at your post Greedy

Best regards, Laret
