pilight nano usb over Wifi for routers without USB port

Actually yes, because the nano does have an integrated UART (ch340 or ftdi etc...).
The esp8266 will be connected directly to the Tx/Rx lines. Moreover, ESP8266 has 3.3V and the 433MHz Module uses 5 Volts. This is the reason I used a 5V Arduino and "blocked" the 5 Volts using a !N4148 diode on Rx/Tx.

Now if you connect Rx/Tx to the nano I have seen weird effects due to the connected UART - in fact the ESP8266 might not be able to drive enough current "against" the UART - I am sure that electronically there might be a way around this but using a mini (which is the same thing, just no UART) is the easy way round...

Alternatively, just using an Atmel 328 Chip with minimal wiring might be an option as well...

I have a NodeMCU here... It has a ESP8266, 4Mb Flash, USB, etc...and a lot of GPiOs...

Any chance to port it directly to this device?

Hallo frenchie71,

It really sounds like a nice project. I am looking for a nice way to have slaves 433mhz senders from Wifi. I've got a few click on/click off sockets in multiple rooms (and several ideas for new projects Wink ) and think this is now missing.

I find ESP8266 a really nice product. I didn't manage to connect it with 433 mhz to the home pilight/Pimatic (only DTH-22). This project seems to do this. It would be really great if this project will reach full implementation. I'm a novice user who manage with copy-paste :$ But I'll manage Wink
I'll hope to se the project come to live.

Hi chaps,

you may have noticed that I have not pursued this implementation further. There are mainly three reasons for this:

1. I just don't have the time any more
2. I have found out that it does not run very stable, i.e. it hangs after 1-2 days.
3. With the Pi Zero and the Orange Pi Zero at around 10 EUR, you can have a fully blown system at the same price

To make a long story short, if anybody wants to pursue this further, I am happy to give my prototype away for free. Just drop me a PN.
