Light Switch with integrated ON/OFF Button
#1
Hi everybody

I have ordered a pilight-pcb all-in-one (not yet received), since I would like to do some lights automation at home. Additionally I ordered a intertechno ITL-250 (which is in the supported devices list). I already received the latter one. Now I am not an electrician, but luckily one of my friends is. So he passed by and we did install the ITL-250.

What I was not aware of: It is not easily possible ( without having to mess around with the in-wall-cabeling ) to switch on/off using both ways, the old school way using the switch button on the wall and the wirless remote. If I turn off the ITL-250 I cannot turn on on the switch at the wall and vice versa.

Actually I am looking for a solution where you can switch on/off independently and everything works like automagically. So I think I need a light switch with integrated RF at 433. But does anyone of you know of one that is supported by pilight. Looking at alibaba with the keywords "433 switch" there are a bunch of results, but how big is the chance that these do work with pilight??

Regards and Thanks
Ilir

Kaku (CoCo) has two versions of receivers you can mount behind an existing light switch. With both of them you can keep using the existing switch.

The first one (awmr-230) cannot be used with led lamps. The second one (awmr-300) can, but it requires that you have a neutral wire available at the location where the switch is mounted.

I am using the awmr-300 myself.

Its a pleasure!

Yes, it is excactly the way you wrote.

Ofc. you must take into account that pilight won't know that you switched on or off via the button. That means that in the GUI the device will remain in the state it was in before.
So, suppose you switched on via pilight and then off via the button and you wish to switch on again via pilight. Then you will have to switch off via pilight first and then back to on.

If you want to switch via a rule, you also have to take into account that a switch action won't be executed if a device is already in the state the rule tries to switch to. You can solve that by adding an additional rule that switches the device to the opposite of the desired state before the actual rule is executed (if not already in that state).
