SD card filesystem: Reduction of write cycles and filesystem integrity
#1
Currently there are some paths mounted directly to the sd card, most notably the path /var/log, causing wear and tear to the SD card.
Purpose of this thread is to discuss the requirements for mounting
a) some paths, most notably /var/log, as an overlay to ensure that the number of write cycles to the SD card is significantly reduced
b) all paths as an overlay to ensure that the ext4 user partition survives unharmed during unexpected failures, e.q. power outages.

In addition the purpose of this thread is to discuss the requirements
c) for regular file system checks
d) that all modifications are saved back to the SD card during regular shut downs of pilight
e) that all modifications are saved back to the SD card before regular reboot/shutdown of the operating system.
