Hacking my own Doorbell

I want to 'hack' my Doorbell with an 443 sender and some kind of brain (attiny/arduino) to notify pilight when my Doorbell rings.

My biggest problem at the moment is the protocoll, I thought about emulating some existing ones but found nothing that could be used as some sort of sateless impuls.

Do I really have to create my own? Any Ideas?

(does pilight support plugin like or lua/etc protocols or do I have to recompile with each new version?)
I want to support lua protocols in the future, but as a single developer it takes (a lot of) time.
