No UUID assigned
#11
I tried the nightly build. First it did not start up at boot because it failed to find ssdp connections. I then put the Wants directive in the service ffile.

pilight now started up, but receive wouldn't have uuids. I waited for more than five minutes. But no uuid showed up.

I now tried something new also, and put this in the service file under the service section:
ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 10

This actually seems to “solve“ my problem... I'll keep watching it.

But if you prefer a more proper fix, I'll be happy to test more!

Can you post your full config? That help me determine your specific setup.

Thumbs Down
I sure can:
Code:
osmc@ak-test:~$ cat /etc/pilight/config.json
{
        "devices": {},
        "rules": {},
        "gui": {},
        "settings": {
                "log-level": 6,
                "pid-file": "/var/run/pilight.pid",
                "log-file": "/var/log/pilight.log",
                "webserver-enable": 1,
                "webserver-root": "/usr/local/share/pilight/webgui",
                "port": 5000,
                "webserver-http-port": 5001,
                "webserver-https-port": 5002,
                "webserver-cache": 1,
                "gpio-platform": "none"
        },
        "hardware": {
                "433nano": {
                        "comport": "/dev/ttyUSB0"
                }
        },
        "registry": {
                "webserver": {
                        "ssl": {
                                "certificate": {
                                        "location": "/etc/pilight/pilight.pem"
                                }
                        }
                },
                "pilight": {
                        "version": {
                                "current": "8.1.3"
                        }
                }
        }
Sorry for the no-Code. I'm on my cellphone only... :-\

I also guess the config is rather minimal, as I use pilight only as a backend for home assistant...

Can you try installing on a fresh raspbian to rule out OSMC?

I'm afraid my test system turned out to be productive, so I cannot simply wipe it out. And I have no spare Pi. So, I won't be able to test this in the near future... :-\

You don't have a spare SD card?

It would be great if we could finish that PR.

@curlymo, you're right. That would be smart. I don't have a spare SD card currently. But I'll get one as soon, as I can. It will still take two weeks at least...

@kylex, nice PR. Looks like a very sophisticated way of a ExecPreStart directive. Why not simply put the route test as a PreStart into pilight.service? That would also solve curlymo's concerns about the name of your service...

PS @kylex, I just followed my own advice and this works like a charm. It waits 6 seconds for a route...

Code:
ExecStartPre=/bin/bash -c " \
            count=0; \
            while [ -z \"$(/sbin/ip route | awk '/default/ { print $3 }')\" ]; \
            do \
                sleep 1s; \
                count=$((count+1)); \
                echo \"Waited for route for $count seconds\"; \
            done;"
